About the research

Up to 91 pills a week. That's how many medicines people take at the end of their lives. Kristel Paque (Universiteit Gent / VUB - Vrije Universiteit Brussel) conducts research among cancer patients and nursing home residents and finds out whether all these pills are really necessary.

The informal care for her grandmother encouraged Kristel Paque to study nursing. From the very first internship she found it important to support and promote the quality of life and care. Her current PhD research at the VUB and UGent is aimed at improving the medication use of people with reduced life expectancy in order to improve the quality of life.
