Bacteria, with their complex ability to live and thrive just about anywhere have always fascinated Tori Langill to the point where now she is working on a PhD to try and understand them further. She is doing this research at the University Hasselt, focussing specifically on plants and their associated bacteria. Currently she is researching how to get crops to germinate on marginal land using seed bacteria from plants that grow on metal polluted land.
