Using human blood cells to tackle disease, referred to as cell-based immunotherapy, is key to the scientific journey of biomedical scientist Eva Lion, PhD. She performs bench-to-bed research at the faculty of medicine and health sciences at the University of Antwerp, collecting blood from patients and safely manipulating the white blood cells into a personalized therapy. She is driven to design new in vitro and clinical studies, ultimately aiming to make advanced therapies accessible to patients with a high unmet medical need.
