About the research

"In the early days, a computer was the size of a storage room. But today, this computer wouldn't stand a chance against the smartphone in your pocket" How is this even possible? Well, thanks to the nanotechnology inside your smartphone. In his PhD Balakumar Baskaran (imec - KU Leuven) zooms in on the nanoscale 🔬

Balakumar Baskaran obtained his Physics master's degree in India. A strong interest in science led to pursue further in the field of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Aiming to work on real-life technological applications, he graduated from the Erasmus Mundus Masters program at KU Leuven and Université Grenoble Alpes with a specialization in Nanophysics. In 2018, he started as a PhD researcher at KU Leuven, where he is continuing his research on the materials en components analysis group of IMEC. His current work focuses on the use of ‘Hybrid metrology’ applied to state-of-the-art semiconductor devices technology.
