Helping people. That is why Olaya Lara chose to study pharmaceutical sciences. During her studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, she got a taste of the world of research and realized this was the direction she wanted to continue in. With a special interest in oncology and neurosciences, she started her Ph.D. research on pancreatic cancer. Together with her colleagues, she investigates this disease beyond the tumor with a focus on inflammation and inflammation-related comorbidities.
